Hispanic Latino Action Coalition

Mission

To identify common goals and actions that benefit the NC Hispanic & Latino population.  Utilize the collective impact of the members to inform influences and increase awareness of the issues impacting the population.

Goals

  1. Improve access to higher education among Latino Students
  2. Grow the economic Impact of NC Hispanic/Latino population
  3. Strengthen the NC Hispanic/Latino Education Pipeline (Pre-K-12-Higher Education- Workforce

The Strategy

  1. Create action to help change statutes regarding education access
  2. Grow the tax base to help drive decisions benefiting our communities
  3. Align with key institutions to deliver culturally appropriate education
  4. Advocate to attaining credentials of value for well-paying jobs and valuable careers
  5. Connect with influencers and decision-makers to remove barriers to build towards equity and economic mobility of the Hispanic/Latino Community.

Action Through Policy

  1. Create- Policy statement to drive change
  2. Align- Efforts to educate influencers for policymaking
  3. Advocate-To have equitable balance of power

Action Through Communications

  1. Create- A statewide campaign to inform the economic power of community
  2. Align- Efforts with all organizations that are working to get their voices heard
  3. Advocate-For inclusion in all sectors of the economy

Action Through Education

  1. Create- Policy statement to help change statutes regarding education access
  2. Align- With institutions/groups and influencers that are supporters of change
  3. Advocate-Making recommendations to bridge the gap of cultural understanding
