Global Connect@

City Economic Strength By Race

DGEP is collaborating with Connect@ a cultural, equity and training firm dedicated to increasing equity and building bridges with Latin America and Mexico. Connect@ will collaborate with Black Communities to lead emergent action and innovation on Racial Equity. The work will be applied in local communities, across states, the nation, and globally.  Connect@ has strong global relationships and a committed engagement in helping economically challenged communities. It uses its model to help increase understanding of the complexity of Latin American Cultures to improve strategies to serve and engage these populations and to build bridges between communities of color. Connect@ with its professional development and travel programs to Latin America and Mexico, help decision-makers, business owners and government officials learn how diverse populations in other countries have certain similarities and economic hardships. And although largely monolithic in racial composition, because of colorism, racial inequity also exists.  The theory of change is that those of European, African, and Latin descent can all learn from experiences of racial inequity and drive collective change if they know one another better.

City Economic Strength By Race

DGEP hopes that by having a literal neighboring institution and initiative in NC’s LatinX community that collaboration with the Black Communities work will lead to emergent action on and innovation on Racial Equity in local communities, across states and nations, and globally.  The theory of change is that those of European, African, and Latin descent can all learn from experiences of racial inequity and drive collective change if they know one another better.
